If you are not familiar with us, we are a supplier of various metal products. This includes titanium, bronze, and aluminium goods to name a few. Moreover, we go out of our way to provide value via product innovation and material processing. Another area we specialise in is the centreless grinding of round bar.
What is centreless grinding?
It is a very reliable machining process. Here, you remove material from metal bars or components. You do this by using abrasive cutting so it is very efficient. People rely on the technique to lower the diameter of a bar or part to obtain a critical size and/or a surface finish.
Centreless is different from centred grinding. There is no spindle to hold the material in place. Instead, you secure it between a set of rotary grinding wheels. These rotate at defined speeds. They decide the speed at which you can work. In comparison to other grinding operations, this one is far quicker. It is also a good option for long bars.
How things work
A combination of the gravity acting on the workpiece, the capability of the grinding wheel, and the cutting pressure work together here. They guarantee that the bar is in contact with the rest blade as well as the regulating wheel. Usually, the latter is made using a rubber bonded substance. It provides a frictional surface that is in constant motion. This ensures that there is a continual, steady rotation of the work. It will be at precisely the same surface speed as the regulating wheel.
Industrial use
As for the industries that would require such a service, there are many candidates. The ones that can take advantage of it include automotive, medical, and agriculture. Other examples also include power generation and aerospace. So, as you can see, it is a very dynamic service.
